T-strap: Lela Rose for Payless, Women’s Mapleton T-Strap Wedge, $54.99 Available at Payless
A vibrant faux suede wedge in nautical blue and white stripes. The shoe sports a t-strap shape with cut-out, adjustable ankle strap, and a print wedge heel with see-through detail. Looks great styled with denim skinnies, a relaxed tee and a linen blazer or dressed up with a suit pant, blouse and blazer. T-straps have been spotted on many celebs including Mila Kunis, Rihanna and Demi Moore.

Color Block: Jessica Simpson Halie, $89
This pair is perfect if you want to try the color block look without the commitment of adding it to your wardrobe. The Halie shoe is a double stacked peep toe platform with slingback and comes in a variety of colors and materials. The style transitions great from day to night and can be worn with white pants and a cropped blazer or with your favorite shift dress! Seen all over the runway, the color block trend has also been spotted on celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry.

Print Wedge: Nine West Bealright Cork Wedge, $99
This animal printed cork wedge with caged sandal style is totally on trend and budget friendly (a designer pair by Lanvin is over $1500). The neutral color palette makes is easy to incorporate into a pre-existing wardrobe and works well with solids as well as other bright colors. Rock them with harem pants, a tank and statement jewelry (think Jennifer Lopez) or refine the look with a trouser and a silk blouse.

Lanvin Two-Tone Wedge Sandal, $1590

Neon: Aldo Shoes Mease High Heel, $80
This bright and sexy neon shoe is fun and fearless, reminiscent of 80′s day-glow colors! The stiletto is all leather with a high gloss finish and a little over 4″ heel. Neon is a big trend this season and a great way to get on board is with a pair of heels. This style looks trendy and mod styled with black and white, or try with a pleated mini, neutral colors and simple patterns. Both Beyonce and Emma Stone are fans of rocking neon on their feet.

Stacked Heel: MIA Women’s Tapas Platform Sandal, $69
Stacked raffia heels are very popular this season and as a bonus are much easier to walk in than stilettos!  This pair is great for casual wear and weekends when paired with with long skirts and and a tank for the boho chic look.  Jessica Biel has been spotted wearing stacked heels.

Kentucky Derby Style

by Victoria Harman

Hold your horses! You don’t want to miss this Saturday’s 138th running of the Kentucky Derby. While few will be making it down to the festivities at Churchill Downs, we all love an excuse for a refreshing Mint Julep once in a while. The Kentucky Derby may be a horse race, but it is also a haven of sophisticated southern style. After all, who doesn’t love colorful sundresses, floppy hats, and riding-inspired attire?

We just Have to Have a pink and green polka-dot clutch by Miu Miu from The Outnet, printed silk sashes by J.McLaughlin, Mint Julep printed bow-ties by Vineyard Vines, a blue and yellow key print purse by Tipsy Skipper, and a horse head pendant necklace by C.Wonder.

Our weekend reading to get us in the southern state of mind? Our Stylesetter Tinsley Mortimer‘s latest novel, “Southern Charm” – it just hit stores this week! ~Victoria

The IT List ~ Lauren Bush Lauren

This week’s IT List StyleSetter has not one, but two instantly recognizable names. Lauren Bush Lauren, the niece of former President George W. Bush and wife of Ralph Lauren‘s son, is about as close as you can get to American royalty.  Lauren is both a fashion designer for her label “Lauren Pierce” and a model.  Her style is very classic and effortlessly chic and she’s modeled for Tommy Hilfiger, Isaac Mizrahi, Vogue, and Vanity Fair. We think she looked particularly stunning on Tuesday night at Time‘s 100 Most Influential People in the World Gala in an elegant long white gown with one of her FEED bags.  Along with being absolutely gorgeous, Lauren is also recognized by her huge heart.

In 2007 she launched FEED Projects with the UN World Food Programme.  Through this program she has released a number of “FEED bags” to raise money to feed children around the world. This month Lauren has teamed up with Godiva to be the first Honoree of their philanthropic Lady Godiva Program.  Together they are releasing FEED 10 bags which are handcrafted by women in Liberia.  They come in a variety of patterns and no two bags are exactly alike. They are being sold on http://www.godiva.com and several of the bags include a delicious box of Godiva chocolates!  The perfect Mother’s Day gift? We think so! Each FEED 10 bag retails for $25.00 and provides 10 meals for children in cocoa-producing regions of Africa.

This week Lauren has provided us with a list of her favorite things, some of her Must-Haves and her favorite FEED bag.

Lucky Magazine’s Four Spring Basics

by Victoria Harman

Here at Have to Have we are delighted to be hosting a shopping trip for Lucky Magazine‘s Fashion and Beauty Bloggers (FABB) Conference this weekend in LA! We have to say after flipping through Lucky‘s latest issue we feel inspired and ready to go for our next shopping trip. This month they highlighted four fantastic spring basics: cat’s-eye sunglasses, flapper dresses, bright pencil skirts, and metallic shoes. I had a whole lot of fun putting together my own shopping list with variations on this theme – you should try it out too! There are so many pieces to love like champagne metallic patent ballet flats by Salvatore Ferragamo, a bright yellow textured pencil skirt by Trina Turk, bold tortoiseshell cat-eyes by House of Harlow 1960, and a flapper dress by Zara decked out in sequin stripes and fringe. Which of these basics do YOU Have to Have for spring?     ~Victoria

Ones to Watch: Aris Michele & Amira Kaadan ~ Funky vs. Traditional Home Decor

by Victoria Harman

“The Youthful & Funky Apartment”

UserAris Michele
List: For My Apartment

Has to HaveGun Flower Vase (see below)
Where to Buy: Uncommon Goods, $50
Must-Have Store: Urban Outfitters

Aris mastered the fun and mismatched look in her very artistic collection. She bases her apartment collection with some traditional elements in neutral colors such as a dark wood dresser and tufted natural colored canvas-like headboard and bed from Home Decorators and a dark acrylic chandelier from  Urban Outfitters . She then accents these plain elements with vibrant bursts of color and patterns as well as some edgy pop-art inspired pieces. She masks these very natural item with fun, kitschy, and artificial pieces that make a statement.  These include: a very rockstar pyramid metal spiked iPhone case from Etsy, moustache pillowcases from  Urban Outfitters , and a pale pink candle with a large black wax seal from Viktor & Rolf.  Aris is so on trend with items that highlight popular zig-zag and moroccan trellis motifs in bold clashing colors such as a lovely tan and eggshell blue throw pillow from Room Service, a yellow and white duvet from  Urban Outfitters , and teal and gold wallpaper from  Urban Outfitters .  Another great trend that Aris has picked up is white ceramic home decor. The gun flower vase is especially eye catching amid these bursts of color and says “POW” right in your face with its vibrant artificial roses. My other favorite item that has a fun, artistic take on something natural is the dreamlight from  Urban Outfitters . Who doesn’t love childhood memories of catching lightning bugs? What a calm, soothing way to get to sleep – and no danger to our little winged friends! This kind of space is great for entertaining and is all about having a good time. It breathes energy into you and I can just imagine a rockstar like Rihanna or Katy Perry having a room like this! You can Follow Aris Michele and check out the rest of her Have to Have Lists HERE.

“The Mature & Traditional Home”

Has to HaveShagreen Mirror (see below)
Where to Buy: Taigan, $775
Must-Have Store: Taigan

Amira has gathered together a collection of very earthy, element-inspired items in soothing neutrals. They create a very zen or spa-like ambience. She captures this mood with items from a variety of different materials and textures: woods, wovens, wickers, and linens.  Items to note are: a white cowhide rug in a woven pattern from Gilt, a chunky white wood bed frame from West Elm, an awe-inspiring rustic rectangular wicker basket from Taigan, 100% Egyptian cotton raised bamboo pattern natural linens from Taigan, 100% linen tablecloths and napkins from Taigan, pale pink quilted silk slippers from Taigan, and a pitcher made of glass, stainless steel, and wicker that looks straight out of ancient Greece from Taigan.  Her natural motif continues in her collection with live and preserved plants such as preserved roses in lambs ear leaves, a glass square vase with an architectural flower frog/arranger, and a tole and porcelain black hollyhock from Taigan. She has just a few colored or patterned accents such as: brown & white Chinoisserie throw pillows, blue & white Aztec flowers throw pillows, turquoise painted pottery with a hand-made striated appearance, and a bright blue “glacier” platter from Taigan. These bring in very cool earth and water tones that tie in with the rest of her very elemental decor. The look is polished off with a few neutral and striped accents such as: white porcelain lanterns from West Elm with a punctured look to let the light from the fire through, striped grey blankets accented with navy/tan/white from Alder & Co, and a couple elegant yet simple porcelain beakers in black and white with 24kt gold trim from Taigan.  Amira’s collection of natural elements is rounded out with fire: a few luxurious candles and a fireplace. The shagreen mirror from Taigan is particularly striking because it is a charcoal-like color with a raised bubble-like texture, giving it both a fire-like and water-like element. It pairs well with shades of brown, grey, purple, and white. Despite its neutral style, especially when paired with a patterned accent, it still provides a focal point for the room, which is sort of “built around the mirror”.  It creates a statement without alarming you, which is exactly the subtle calming vibe that Amira’s collection invokes. You can Follow Amira Kaadan and check out the rest of her Have to Have Lists HERE.

Trending: The Coat-Dress

by Victoria Harman

Left: Kate Middleton on a trip to Oxford (2/12), Right: Lola on Gossip Girl (4/16/12)

Even though we’ve seen some great summer-like days lately in NYC, we’re definitely feeling the brisk “April showers bring May flowers” vibe right now. In such unpredictable weather, what better habit to sport than a classic lightweight coat dress? It requires virtually no layers, and looks chic while keeping you warm during small bouts of wind, rain, and clouds! Great coat-dresses to note? Kate Middleton has a large collection including this lovely Orla Kiely one she wore on a February trip to Oxford and we just adore the navy French Connection one Charlotte “Lola” Rhodes wore on Gossip Girl last week!

Earth Day Spotlight on Gabby Wild’s "12 for 12 in 12"

by Victoria Harman

The Gabby Wild Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charity founded by Gabby, a student at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.  The Foundation aims to spread awareness of conservation issues while simultaneously raising funds to support and conserve a specific animal or ecosystem.
Gabby has started a campaign called “12 for 12 in 12” that combines wildlife and environmental conservation with fashion. Through this campaign, Gabby will be wearing 12 animal-inspired and originally-designed eco-fashion outfits in 12 months to benefit 12 endangered species. For example, this month she’s supporting the Ganges River Dolphin and wearing a blue and grey gown designed by Kristin Haskins Simms of Project Runway fame. Gabby has lots of great designers on board for this project, including four stars from Lifetime’s Project Runway: Althea Harper, Kristin Haskins Simms, Jay McCarroll, and Gordana Gehlhausen. You can read more about each endangered animal on Gabby Wild’s blog.

All Access: A Week of Stylish Parties

by Victoria Harman

Our lovely Have to Have co-founders, Carla and Kimberly, have had a busy week of stylish NYC parties to attend, rubbing shoulders with the fashionably fabulous. New York certainly is the city that never sleeps with a huge party scene and we’d love to take you behind the scenes with them at these very exclusive events.

First, Carla and Kim attended a very special celebration for our fantastic friend Filipa Fino.  Filipa has been adding lots of wonderful content to our site each week. Be sure to check out her curated Have to Have lists and some of the trend-setting blog posts she’s contributed in the last few weeks! On April 11th, Filipa celebrated the first issue of her online accessories magazine, FINOfile, with a very successful launch party. The party was held at chic Manhattan restaurant, Phillipe. During Filipa’s speech, she even gave a shoutout to none other than Have to Have! Needless to say, we’re chuffed about that. Carla got this fab picture snapped with Adam Glassman, the Creative Director for O, The Oprah Magazine and Fashion Designer Ammara Yaqub. Be sure to check out Filipa’s first FINOfile issue HERE.

Next up was the LimoLand x Jambox Launch Party last Monday at the new Meatpacking District location of beloved Manhattan pizzeria Serafina. The folks at LimoLand are good friends of ours who hosted a block party with us last spring! Kimberly and Carla had this lovely photo snapped at the event shortly before they indulged in some of the delicious food Serafina had to offer at the event. The truffle pizza was definitely the favorite of the night!

Finally, after a very busy week, Kimberly and Carla attended the Grace Outreach Benefit on Thursday at the Hearst Tower. Grace Outreach is a wonderful organization that provides free GED training and college and job prep for women in the South Bronx. One of the event hosts was none other than Michelle Smith, the designer of Milly!  She wore their fantastic Chrystine Sunburst Dress and looked absolutely stunning. All of the other Milly girls wore some really beautiful and bright dresses – we all can’t wait for summer to officially arrive! Bring out the flirty sundresses!
